I earned my master's in teaching in 2002 with a specialization in middle school reading and language arts. This early training led me to become deeply interested in pedagogy. At the University of Chicago, I worked as a teaching consultant for the Center for Teaching and Learning, helping fellow graduate students across the disciplines develop their teaching skills. While a member of the faculty at Mary Baldwin, I led several workshops on teaching, including teaching reading in the college classroom, teaching writing on-line, and teaching with technology. I also chaired the committee on teaching writing to underprepared students. 

At Northwestern, I offer courses through the Searle Center for Advancing Learning and Teaching. My courses include Beyond the MOOC: Introduction to Online Teaching, Scaffolding Learning for Student Success, and Teaching Writing.
